a rickety bridge of impossible crossing

bear blog question challenge

Let's do it. (via Herman via Ava)

1. Why did you make the blog in the first place?

Well, the first time I blogged ever, it was because it was 1999 and that's just what you did. Why did I make the bearblog? Well, according to my first post, it's because social media was making me sad. I wanted somewhere I can post and not feel bad about myself if I don't get any likes.

2. Why did you choose Bearblog?

Researched available options, this was the one that met my needs in the most ways.

3. Have you blogged on other platforms before?

Yes, too many.

4. Do you write your posts directly in the editor or in another software?

I usually write in the editor on my PC, and a separate notes app on my phone. (in practice, I usually end up writing on my phone.)

5. When do you feel most inspired to write?

Middle of the day while I'm at work. It sucks

6. Do you publish immediately after writing or do you let it simmer a bit as a draft?

I usually post as soon as it's done. If I think about it too much I start to second-guess myself.

7. Your favorite post on your blog?

I think mobile data banditry was pretty good

8. Any future plans for your blog? Maybe a redesign, changing the tag system, etc.?

Wait, can I change the tag system? My hack to shove the tags list to the top of the page doesn't work anymore because you can filter for multiple tags now—which is cool, but without a predictable layout on that page I can't just blat it into the right position.

Edit: never mind, I figured it out, I just added .blog .blog-posts {display:none;} to my CSS and it hides all the titles on that page. Check it out, my tags page works properly for the first time ever! Anyway, no more future plans. Other than continuing to post. More posting, less fiddling, that's my motto for 2025

Edit 2: Well, the tags page looks good but you can't actually see the list of posts when you click a tag. That's probably why I didn't use this technique to begin with. Will require some more tinkering...
